Cathern Smith: Politics: Maxine Most is Louisville’s reproductive rights champion

Daily Camera, August 16, 2023

Louisville is lucky to have a reproductive rights champion on the City Council, Maxine Most. She’s not attempting to make medical decisions or play doctor. Instead, Maxine is applying two bedrock principles — equity and inclusiveness — to medical care. Simply put Maxine believes that equity and inclusiveness demand that pregnant persons have access to all evidence-based medical care.

Letter to the editor: Louisville Ward 2 recall election a power grab

Hometown Weekly, August 9, 2023

Why is Louisville City Councilmember Maxine Most facing a recall election?  The recall petition that was circulated describes the reason as her response to homeowners who lost homes in the Marshall Fire. Now one of the Recall Committee members, Tim Crean, says in his opinion letter that “this recall is not about Marshall Fire issues.”

Recall committee: Louisville Ward 2 residents want another option for representative

Daily Camera, August 9, 2023

"Tim Crean, a member of the recall committee, said the committee is not recalling Most because of the Marshall Fire."

"Most has previously said waiving building codes was not the way to proceed and the response to a climate-driven disaster should not be to lower building codes. During the March 2022 meeting, Most also said being for the codes does not equate to not supporting fire victims."

Louisville City Councilor Maxine Most Fights Back Against Ward 2 Recall

Yellowscene, August 5, 2023

The small group of residents supporting a recall claiming Louisville Ward 2 Council Member Maxine Most did not adequately support or advocate for Marshall Fire victims now say Most’s voting record is the real reason behind their actions.

A business leader who has worked for decades in the tech industry, Most strongly refutes claims that she is anti-business and not a collaborative member of the Louisville City Council.

“I stand behind a voting record that represents the priorities and values of the majority of our Louisville community,” says Most, who has voted unanimously with her fellow council members more than 90% of the time, including approving critical Business Assistance Program updates, a series of common-sense gun safety ordinances, a cap on the number of gas stations, and use tax rebates for those rebuilding from the Marshall Fire

Guest Opinion: Tim Stalker: Louisville recall is akin to an attack on democracy

Daily Camera, August 4, 2023

"Louisville Ward 2, don’t be fooled. The recently approved petition to recall Councilmember Maxine Most is a political hit job and akin to an attack on democracy. Some residents are in a full-fledged political recall campaign using an assortment of issues against Most, nearly all of which are not even mentioned in the recall petition about issues regarding rebuilding from the fire. What people signed, I believe, is something far different from the campaign going on now."

Councilor Most's Letter to Ward 2 Residents

August 1, 2023

"I am proud to have served you and the entire Louisville community for almost two years in what has been one of the most challenging periods in our city’s history. The devastating Marshall Fire occurred just six weeks after I was sworn in. Now, as our community is on the road to recovery, my record is being distorted as part of an unfortunate and costly recall effort. So, I’d like to set the record straight"
